Orchard Inn Autumn Newsletter


This autumn see’s us extending a very warm welcome to our new management couple and head chef John & Jean Brandon. They joined us at the beginning of October and have certainly hit the ground running, with the introduction of a tasty new menu.

A very experienced couple, Jean has enjoyed a wealth of experience in management positions at various hotels until joining John in pub and restaurant management for the last 6 years. John has 30 years of chef experience, starting his career at The Savoy Hotel, London. John then went on to work France, Switzerland and Tuscany and then returned back to the UK to work at several fine dining restaurants across London.

John has a fine sense of seasonality, and introduces notes of freshness to dishes that have become clichéd through over popularity. His judgment is acute, and he pays as much attention to textural contrasts as he does to flavour and appearance on the plate. However, everything he does is guided by an innate good taste that shines through all his dishes. For John, taste always comes first. You won’t find silly or inappropriate flavours introduced merely for the sake of novelty. He is imaginative, but all his work is shaped by a classic culinary education. He respects tradition, yet his dishes have the originality that stems from a sense of constant discovery.

With the nights drawing in, our great value Prix Fixe menu is available lunchtimes and 5pm – 6pm Mon -Sat:

1 course – £6.95
2 courses – £9.95
